A Progressive Web App (PWA) is a browser-accessible version of your app that behaves similarly to a native app. Users can open it from a browser, add it to their home screen, and interact with it without downloading the app from an app store. The PWA settings in the control panel let you customize how this web version looks, behaves, and appears when shared or indexed by search engines.

How to use Progressive Web App (PWA) settings

  1. Log in, go to Settings in the left navigation

  2. Select Progressive Web Apps

  3. Stay in the Settings tab

    • Review the default PWA configuration for your app

  4. Set up a custom domain (optional)

    • Enter a branded domain you want to use for your PWA (for example, app.yourdomain.com)

    • Create a CNAME record with your domain provider that points to Buildfire’s PWA servers

    • Once DNS is set up, enter the full domain in the Custom Domain field and click Save

  5. Add an SSL certificate (recommended)

    • Secure your custom domain with HTTPS by submitting a certificate request

    • Complete the certificate request form with:

      1. Country code

      2. State or province

      3. City

      4. Organization name

      5. Common name (your domain)

    • Submit the request to enable encrypted access to your PWA

  6. Click the Metadata tab

    • Enter a meta description to improve search engine visibility

    • This description helps search engines understand what your PWA is about

  7. Configure social media metadata

    • Customize how your PWA appears when shared on platforms like Facebook, WhatsApp, and X

    • Set a title, description, and preview image used when links are shared

  8. Save your changes

    • Your PWA is now ready to be shared using your custom domain and metadata settings

Pro tips

  • Use a branded domain to make your PWA easier to recognize and share

  • Always enable SSL for security and better browser trust

  • Write clear meta descriptions to improve search visibility

  • Customize social preview text and images to keep shared links on-brand
