Drip notifications help app owners bring users back to their apps by sending automated reminders to users who haven’t opened the app within a set number of days. These notifications can include a message, title, and even a direct action that links users back to a specific page or feature in the app.

Requirements

  • This is a Boost plugin, available on specific plans only.

  • Your users must have push notifications enabled.

How to use the Drip Notification plugin

  1. Log in, go to Builder in the left navigation

  2. Click the + button to open the Plugin Marketplace

    • Search for Drip Notification, then click Add Plugin

    • Name your plugin (example: User Reminder) and click Add

  3. Create a new drip notification

    • Click Add Drip Notification

    • Enter a title (e.g., “We miss you!”) and a message for the notification

    • Specify the number of inactive days (e.g., “7 days”) to target users who haven’t opened the app within that time frame

    • (Optional) Add Action to link the notification to a section or feature of your app

      1. Link to a new page or feature recently added

      2. Direct users to a weekly update or special offer

      3. Encourage users to complete a check-in or form

    • Click Add to save the drip notification

  4. Use the pencil icon to edit or the trash icon to delete any existing notifications

Pro tips

  • You can create multiple drip notifications for different inactivity periods.

  • Use shorter inactivity windows (3–7 days) for high-engagement apps like fitness or news.

  • For long-term retention, schedule a 30-day re-engagement message with an incentive.

  • Keep your messages concise and action-oriented.

  • Review analytics regularly to refine timing and messaging based on engagement rates.
