Behavioral tags allow app owners to track, categorize, and engage users based on their activity inside the app. Each time a user interacts with specific features or sections, a tag can automatically be applied to their profile. These tags can later be used for targeted push notifications, access control, or simply to understand user interests and behavior patterns.

Requirements

  • Available in most plugins and app sections

  • Users must be logged in for tags to be assigned

  • Tags can be used for both behavioral tracking and access management

How to use Behavioral Tags

  1. Log in, go to Builder in the left navigation

  2. Open the plugin or section where you want to apply a behavioral tag

  3. Click the Tagging tab

    • You’ll see a search bar where you can look for existing tags or create a new one

  4. To create a new tag

    • Enter a tag name under Tag Title (for example, “Photography” or “Admin”)

    • Click Add Tag

    • The new tag will appear in your list and will be automatically assigned to users who access this section of your app

  5. To apply an existing tag

    • Search for the tag name in the Tag Title field

    • Select it from the dropdown to attach it to the current plugin or section

  6. Test tagging behavior

    • Open the app preview and click the feature you’ve tagged

    • Each time a user accesses this section, the tag counter will increment

    • Tags are stored on the user profile and can be viewed under Users in your control panel

  7. Repeat this process across multiple plugins or folders to label users based on their interactions (for example, “Fitness Enthusiast,” “Newsletter Subscriber,” or “Photography Fan”)

Pro tips

  • Use behavioral tags to trigger targeted push notifications (for example, send updates only to users tagged “Event Attendee”)

  • Combine tags with the Security tab to restrict access by user group

  • Pair tagging with the Questionnaire plugin to assign tags automatically based on user responses

  • Review tag activity regularly to understand your most engaged audiences

Keep tag names simple and consistent to make filtering and reporting easier
