How to use the PDF Editor plugin

Allow users to view, edit, sign, and download PDF documents directly inside your app.

The PDF Editor plugin lets users upload PDF documents, add signatures, text, drawings, and dates, then download the updated file. This is useful for forms, waivers, agreements, or any document that requires user input or approval inside your app.


Requirements

  • This is a Boost plugin, available on specific plans only.


How to use the PDF Editor plugin

  1. Log in, go to Builder in the left navigation

  2. Click the + button to open the Plugin Marketplace

    • Search for PDF Editor, then click Add Plugin

    • Name your plugin and choose whether to add it to the side menu, then click Add

  3. Go to the Settings tab

  4. Configure document behavior

    • Enable Download File to allow users to download the PDF to their device

    • Enable Reopen File to allow users to reopen the same document or upload a new one

  5. To test it out, in the App Preview:

    • Upload a PDF document by clicking the folder icon

      1. Select a PDF file from your device to upload

    • Edit the document

      1. Use the signature tool to draw and place a signature anywhere on the document

        1. Resize or delete the signature as needed

      2. Use the box tool to add a resizable text or drawing box

      3. Use the text tool to insert typed text

      4. Use the date tool to automatically insert the current date

    • Adjust or remove elements

      1. Drag items to reposition them

      2. Resize items as needed

      3. Click the X icon to delete any added element

    • Navigate the document

      1. View the document name in the top bar

      2. Scroll through pages or jump between pages in multi-page PDFs

    • Download or replace the document

      1. Click the document name to download the updated PDF

      2. Click the folder icon to upload a different document

  6. Click the Security tab:

    • Turn on Require Login to restrict access to logged-in users

    • (Optional) Add tag-based restrictions and choose whether to match any or all tags

  7. Click the Tagging tab:

    • Enter a tag name to automatically apply to users when they open this feature

    • Click Add Tag

  8. Click the Purchase tab:

    • Check Require Purchase to enable

    • Choose your product type (e.g., Single Purchase or Subscription)

    • Upload an image, fill out purchase text, and success/failure messages

  9. Click the Analytics tab to see feature performance:

    • View usage data such as opens and interactions over time

  • Use this plugin for waivers, contracts, or consent forms that require signatures

  • Keep PDFs optimized for mobile viewing to improve usability

  • Test document editing and downloads on a real device for best results
