What is the Action Builder?

The Action Builder enables you to link to a variety of different actions such as linking to app content, websites, phone numbers, and more. In this article we’ll go over some of the places where you can find the Action Builder in our system, how to use it, and the different options that you have in the Action Builder.

What are Action Items?

Action Items are additional actions that you can add to a number of different elements in our system.

What are some use cases of the Action Builder?

Some use cases of this feature include:

  • If your app is for a music festival or a sporting tournament you can use the Action Builder to send users to your event’s location in Google Maps

  • You can use the Action Builder to add in a way for users to send in prayer requests or ask for advice via email for your church’s app

  • You can use the Action Builder along with the Image Carousel to promote premium content in your app that’s tied to an in-app purchase

What is the Action Builder’s primary function and what are the steps to accomplish it?

The Action Builder provides you with the ability to add an additional action to various areas of our system such as adding a link to an image in the Image Carousel, or sending users to a website in a Push Notification or GeoFence Notification, or adding the ability for users to email you in the Footer Menu.

First let’s go over how to create a link with the Action Builder, then we’ll go over the different actions that you can add with the Action Builder.

How to Create Action Items with the Action Builder

Step 1: Click on Add Action

Depending on what you want to add an action to, the button to add an action item to an image, a push notification, or the footer menu will be slightly different.

For the Image Carousel it will be “Add Action/Link”

For Push Notifications it will say “+ Add Action”

For GeoFence Notifications it will say “Select Action”

For the Footer Menu it will say “Add Action Item”

Clicking any of these links will open up the Action Builder window.

Step 2: Select the action that you want to add in the Action Builder window

Once you have the Action Builder window opened, you’ll be able to select the action you want to add by clicking the drop-down menu next to “Action/Link Type”.

Step 3: Fill out the required information for that action

Each action requires different information. Once you select the action that you want to add fields for the required information will display automatically. Fill these out with the information needed.

Step 4: Click Save

After you’ve selected the action that you wanted to add and have filled out the required information, click “Save” to apply that action.

Congratulations! You’ve just added an action with the Action Builder!
